"It’s a whole system, it’s not just us."

- Evelyn Grosenick, Washoe County Public Defender, discusses future concerns with this office as the population continues to grow, saying that the more people who are arrested and prosecuted, the more people will come to the public defender’s office for services. She says we should be focusing on mental health and substance abuse treatment in the community to hopefully divert some of those people who are getting arrested while in crisis, and we may prevent some of the need for a bigger criminal justice system.
